Candidate ProcessJuly 18th, 2009

The Rush process for both fall and spring begins with an on campus, All Row Rush BBQ. Each chapter house will host a tailgate style barbecue on McCarthy Quad. Potential members are encouraged to visit every house so they can decide which chapters they are interested in and which rush events they would like to attend. The next day are In-House Rush Events, where potential members and all those interested in joining a house, will tour houses and meet members. Each house offers different events and foods that cultivate meeting new people. The following two nights are Off-Site Rush Events, where the houses all travel off campus with potential members to exotic locations around the Los Angeles Area. At the end of the second night, houses will hand out invitations to the final off campus event, the Formal Blue Chip Dinner. This dinner is where all members of the house and potential members enjoy a very classy meal, and it is the final night where houses select those which they would like to pledge their house. The following night is known as Bid Night, where after deciding which chapter they would most like to be a part of (based on those which have offered them bids), potential members return to that house for an evening gathering to receive their bid. If you are offered a bid, you have the option of accepting, declining, or holding. If you do not receive a bid, don’t worry–there is a grace period where late bids are handed out. During this time you can contact other houses that you are interested in, and you may be offered a bid anytime in the next 24 hours.
