Beta Sigma PhilanthropiesJuly 22nd, 2009

The Beta Sigma Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon, believes that it is crucial for brotherhood to participate in a variety of philanthropic and community service oriented events. In addition to competing in every sorority philanthropy, TKE also hosts its own. In the fall TKE contributes to USC men’s basketball coach Tim Floyd’s “Dribble for the Cure” where the chapter spends the day dribbling around campus with less fortunate children in the surrounding area. Through sponsors and donations TKE raises money for children’s cancer research, and gets to spend time with the men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the women’s volleyball team. So far, TKE has raised the most money for this event since its inception.

Beta Sigma also hosts its own philanthropy for sororities to compete in, aptly named TKE Gladiators. The basis for the event is the popular 90’s hit show “American Gladiators” except TKE Gladiators pits sorority versus sorority in a variety of inflatable and safe events. The money raised from the participants is sent to the Alzheimer’s Association in the name of famed TKE alum Ronald Reagan.

In addition, Beta Sigma attempts to unite with other fraternities on campus to hold a joint service project. This past year, members from Alpha Gamma Omega and TKE traveled down to Mexico for the weekend to help build houses for the less fortunate.
